In Hivelight the work on a matter is broken down into milestones and tasks.

To populate your matters with milestones and tasks you can either enter these in manually, or you can use roadmaps or a combination of the two.

Roadmaps are template sets of milestones and tasks (with optional instructions) for completing work - any from preparing a document to completing an entire matter.

Just as you use template documents to save time and promote consistency when creating emails, letters, and agreements, roadmaps save you time and promote consistency when mapping out and assigning work on your matters. This also becomes valuable IP for the firm.

The simple structure of a roadmap in Hivelight is essentially a list of the tasks that need to be done, which are grouped into milestones (which are the major deadlines and deliverables in the matter that act as progress markers).

For example, a simple roadmap could look like the following outline (where the milestones are in bold and the tasks are bullet points).

Intake

  • Complete the new client intake form;

  • Complete the conflict check

  • Book them in for a case evaluation call

Obtain medical documents

  • Review the physicians of the client and identify the records to be obtained

  • Confirm that all required records have been obtained

  • Create medical chronologies

Commence proceedings

  • File and serve the summons and complaint

  • Confirm that Answer has been received from each defendant

You can create roadmaps that span an entire matter, or break them up into steps or stages in a matter that you chain together as needed. Roadmaps can be added to a matter at anytime and can be edited and added to as needed.

Hivelight also enables truly agile roadmap development. You can get started by creating and loading simple roadmaps to your matters. Then you can improve those roadmaps over time and update your matters with the new versions. This iterative approach is faster, cheaper, and leads to a more robust workflow solution for your firm.

This provides simplicity and flexibility so that you can maintain your roadmap library yourself, and adapt to any change that may occur in your matters.
